Sevilla and Inter are playing in the finals of the Europa League at RheinEnergieStadion in Germany.
Sevilla has been lights out in the Europa League since the restart, and with three straight wins, Sevilla has gotten into the finals. During these three wins, Sevilla has scored 5 goals, while conceding only 1 goal. In their latest Europa League game against Manchester United in the semifinals, Sevilla has had 53% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and solid 86% of the correct passes. Defensively, Sevilla was fantastic, while in the attacking end, Sevilla didn’t have a lot of chances, but the ones they had, Sevilla knew how to use, and in the end, Sevilla have won this match 2-1. El Haddadi has scored 5 goals for Sevilla so far in the Europa League, while Dabbur added 3 goals. Ever Banega has 3 assists. There are no injuries or suspensions in Sevilla, which means coach Lopetegui will have his strongest lineup at his disposal. Sevilla is playing well overall, and they like to have the ball in their feet, but they have had some problems with scoring goals this season. Defensively, Sevilla is calm and solid, and it’s hard to penetrate their defensive wall. Sevilla has won the Europa League every time they went to the finals, and with the form they are in right now, it could easily be four.
Inter has been equally good on the defensive end as Sevilla, and in a good form, but Inter has been much more effective in the attacking end. In their last 3 Europa League games, Inter has scored 9 goals and conceded only 1 goal. Lukaku has been on fire this season for Inter, and only in the Europa League, he scored 6 goals in 5 games. Martinez and Eriksen both added 2 goals. Lukaku has also added 2 assists. Vecino is the only injured player for Inter. In their last Europa League match against Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter didn’t have a lot of possession, only 37%, but they had massive 9 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 84% of the correct passes. It’s remarkable what Inter did with so little possession in this match. With 2 goals from Martinez and 2 goals from Lukaku, Inter has won this match 5-0. I’ve mentioned this before, and I will say it again, I think that Inter is the most talented team in Serie A, and the title was within their reach this season, but with a few more additions to the team in the offseason, Inter could finally win the Serie A title next season.
Sevilla and Inter have been two of the best teams in the Europa League this season, and frankly, they both deserved to be here. I expect this to be a fantastic match with plenty of chances, where Sevilla will probably dominate with possession, but as we saw in their previous game, that doesn’t mean anything for Inter. I think we could see some goals here, but in the end, I expect Inter to win the title.
