Denmark is welcoming England to Parken in round 2 in the UEFA Nations League.
Denmark has successfully completed the Euro Cup qualifications, and they have qualified for Euro Cup where they will play in Group B with Finland, Belgium, and Russia. In their first game in the Nations League, Denmark was facing Belgium at home, and they were solid with 50% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and a solid 84% of the correct passes. Like many teams before, Denmark wasn’t able to stop Belgium, and they ended up losing this match 0-2. With this loss, Belgium is in the last place of their group in the Nations League. Denmark is a good team, and they were playing in their strongest lineup with Eriksen, Delaney, Poulsen, Dolberg, and Braithwaite all in the starting lineup, but the long break between the games due to the Covid-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on all teams, including Denmark. I’m pretty sure we can expect a different lineup for this game, possibly even a different formation, but Denmark is certainly capable of beating England, or any other team out there. The Euro Cup is still far away, and there is plenty of time for Denmark to catch a good form, and I think they will.
England is one of the teams with the most offensive firepower in the world, but they were incredibly sloppy and slow in their match against Iceland. England was dominant in that match with a massive 78% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 89% of the correct passes. England conceded a red card in the 70th minute, but they were still dominant after that. In the 91st minute, England was awarded a penalty kick, which Raheem Sterling turned into a goal, which was enough for a 0-1 win for England. There are a few issues for England coming into this match. The first one is the red card from the game against Iceland, and Kyle Walker will miss this game because of it, the second issue is that two you stars, Greenwood and Foden were sent home because they broke the quarantine protocol after this match. The good news for coach Southgate and England is that they have plenty of high-quality players on the bench who can replace Walker, Greenwood, and Foden. England is one of the top favorites to win the Euro Cup, but when the team that has so much firepower has only 4 shots on goal against Iceland is just stupid. England has problems that they need to deal with as soon as possible.
England was dominant against Iceland, but Denmark also showed a lot against Belgium. I’m not confident that England can start playing better and more efficient soccer in the attacking end right after they showed us nothing, while Denmark can defend well. I think this match could end in a draw, and I will trust my gut.
