Getafe is welcoming Osasuna to Coliseum Alfonso Perez in round 2 in Spanish LaLiga.
Getafe has had a solid preseason with 2 wins and 1 loss, but their first game of the season has been postponed. Getafe ended last season in 8th place with 54 points, 43 scored goals, and 37 conceded goals, but sadly they weren’t able to qualify for the Europa League. Defensively, Getafe was one of the best teams in LaLiga last season, while their offense was solid with 43 scored goals, but it wasn’t enough for Getafe to reach 7th place. Dario Poveda is the only injured player for Getafe at this time. There has been a decent amount of incoming and outgoing transfers in Getafe in the offseason, and Cucurella and Unal are the most notable arrivals, while Lazo, Galego, and Kenedy are the most notable departures. Getafe is being led by the same coach since 2016, and there is no reason to change anything because Bordalas is doing a good job, but if Getafe wants to get to the Europa League this season. I expect Getafe will play well on the defensive end once again this season, while hopefully, their offense will pick up sooner than last season.
Osasuna has been in a fantastic form in the preseason, and they have started LaLiga well, with a nice win. Osasuna was playing against Cadiz on the road in the first game of the season, and they have had 48% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 1 shot on goal, and low 61% of the correct passes. Osasuna didn’t play particularly well in this game, but they were effective in the attacking end, and with 1 scored goal in each half, Osasuna has won this match 0-2. Lopez and Garcia have scored 1 goal each, while Oier and Torro added 1 assist each. Avila, Garcia, Brasanac, and Herrando are all injured for Osasuna. Last season was solid for Osasuna, and they were really close to the Europa League, but their defense just wasn’t good enough to reach 7th place. Osasuna is an average LaLiga team, and I don’t think they will have any problems in securing their LaLiga status, but I don’t see Osasuna getting higher than 10th place this season. Osasuna is struggling with injuries, and they don’t have the quality to control the possession against most of the teams, and that could cost Osasuna a lot this season.
When playing at home, Getafe has not lost to Osasuna in their last 8 games, while Osasuna is on a 3-game winning streak on the road. The home team has dominated this matchup, and I think it will be the same in this game. Getafe is the better team here in my opinion, and I see them starting the season with a nice home win. I will side with Getafe.
