Arsenal faces West Ham United on Saturday, September 19th at Emirates Stadium for an English Premier League match.
Arsenal started the newest Premier League season on the right foot, as Arsenal took down Fulham by the final score of 3-0. Fulham was not a member of the Premier League during the 2019-20 season, and Arsenal made sure to take advantage of the weaker club in its season opener. Arsenal scored its first goal of the season in the 8th minute of that match, and it was Alexandre Lacazette who scored the goal. Arsenal would go on to score two more goals in the second half of play, as Gabriel and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both found their first goals of the season. Arsenal is now tied with Leicester City at the top of the Premier League standings thanks to their three-goal victories.
West Ham United dropped its first match of the season against Newcastle United on September 12th. West Ham United may have owned the possession and "shot on target" advantage in the match, but Newcastle United led the only desirable category, and that was goals scored. Newcastle United scored twice in the second half to take down West Ham United by the final score of 2-0. West Ham United was in a fight for its lives in the Premier League a season ago, so the club would love to avoid back-to-back losses to start the season. It does not look as though that will happen, however, as Arsenal looks to be in great form yet again. West Ham United will more than likely be near the bottom of the Premier League table for most of this season, but maybe the club can surprise.
The last time Arsenal and West Ham United met was on March 7th of 2020. Arsenal defended Emirates well in that match, as Arsenal took down West Ham via a 1-0 final score.
In this match, I like Arsenal to flex its muscles just as it did against Fulham. West Ham United could very well score its first goal of the season in this match, but in the end, I see a two-goal victory for Arsenal.
