Valencia is hosting Real Betis at Mestalla in round 5 in the Spanish LaLiga.

I have to say, I wasn’t expecting from Valencia to play this well after they sold a bunch of their best players in the offseason. Valencia has 2 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss in their first 4 games of the season, and they are in second place with 7 points. Valencia has scored 7 goals while conceding 5 goals so far this season. Valencia’s latest win came a few days ago against Real Sociedad on the road. Valencia has had only 35% of ball possession in that match, 5 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and 71% of accurate passes. Valencia was defending well, and they were patiently waiting for their chances, and that chance arrived in the 75th minute when Valencia scored the leading goal. Valencia was able to keep Sociedad at bay for the rest of the game, and they have won this match 0-1. Mangala, Soler, Paulista, and Cheryshev are all injured for Valencia. Maxi Gomez has scored 3 goals for Valencia so far, while Vallejo added 2 goals. Lee has added 2 assists, while Cheryshev, Wass, and Gaya each added 1 assist. LaLiga is the only competition Valencia will be playing this season, and it’s a good thing since they are rebuilding their team. The main thing for Valencia is to try and secure the Europa League spot this season.

Betis is a great team, and they have the quality to compete for the Europa League, but they have those black holes throughout the season, and they simply can’t stay consistent. Betis has started the season with 2 wins, but they have lost 2 straight games after that. Betis was playing against Getafe on the road a few days ago, and they have had 70% of ball possession in that match, 2 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 0 big chances created, and a solid 84% of the correct passes. Betis was the better team in this game, and they have had a few good chances, but unfortunately for them, Betis wasn’t able to score a goal. The other problem for Betis in this game was that their defense was terrible in the first half, and they have conceded 3 goals. Betis has lost this match 3-0. With 6 points, 5 scored goals, and 6 conceded goals, Betis is no in 4th place in the standings. Carvalho has scored 2 goals for Betis so far this season, while Fekir, Tello, and Mandi added 1 goal each. Canales has added 2 assists. Guardado, Martin, Camarasa, and Guerrero are all injured. Betis will also be without Mandi who is suspended because of the red card. I would love to see Betis closer to the top of LaLiga, but if they can’t stay consistent, that will not happen for them this season.

When playing at home, Valencia has not lost to Betis in their last 4 games. The trends are on Valencia’s side in this matchup, but I don’t have faith in Valencia, to be honest. I will give it a show with Betis because they are the team with more quality and the better coach in this matchup.
