Paris Saint-Germain is hosting Stade Rennais at Parc des Princes in round 10 in the French Ligue 1.
PSG is at the top of Ligue 1 with 21 points, 23 scored goals, and 3 conceded goals, but they have only a 2-point advantage ahead of Lille. PSG is on a 7-game winning streak in Ligue 1, but they have lost 2 of their 3 games in the Champions League so far. In their last Champions League game earlier this week, PSG was playing against Leipzig on the road, and after leading 0-1, PSG started playing worse, and they ended up losing this game 2-1. Not only PSG lost, but they also conceded 2 red cards in this game. In their last Ligue 1 game, PSG was playing against Nantes on the road, and they were the better team in that game with 64% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 5 big chances created, and a high 91% of the correct passes. With 3 scored goals in the second half, PSG has won this match 0-3. Mbappe is the leading goalscorer for PSG with 7 goals, but he will most likely miss this game because of the injury. Mbappe and Sarabia added 4 assists so far. Bernat, Icardi, Verratti, Neymar, and Draxler are also injured, while Kimpembe is still questionable for this game. PSG is doing really well in Ligue 1, and not only they are the best offensive team in the league, they are the best defensive team as well, but their dense schedule and all the injuries could slow PSG down in another run for the title.
Rennais has been struggling as of late, and they have won only 1 of their last 6 games, including the Champions League games. In the Champions League, Rennais has only 1 point from their first game against Krasnodar. Earlier this week, Rennais was playing against Chelsea on the road, and they ended up losing this game 3-0. In Ligue 1, Rennais is in fantastic 3rd place with 18 points, just 3 points less than PSG at the top. Offensively, Rennais is one of the best teams in Ligue 1 this season with 18 scored goals, but they have conceded 11 goals, the most of the top 7 teams in the standings at the moment. Guirassy, Da Silva, and Aguerd are the leading goalscorers with 3 goals each for Rennais. Bourigeaud and Del Castillo have each added 3 assists. The injury list is quite long for Rennais, and Maouassa, Tait, Rugani, Camavinga, Soppy, and Martin are all on that list. Rennais is a good team, and they have some good players in their roster, but all the injuries are costing them points, especially in the Champions League, and I think this upcoming international break is coming at a perfect time for Rennais.
PSG is in great form in Ligue 1, but Rennais hasn’t lost any of their away games in Ligue 1 so far this season. Both teams are struggling with injuries, and Rennais was known to surprise PSG on the road, but with all the injuries I don’t see it happening here. The price on PSG is not great, which is why I will stick with goals, which we usually have a lot in this matchup.
