Sassuolo is hosting Inter at Mapei Stadium in round 9 in the Italian Serie A.
Sassuolo is having an absolutely fantastic season so far, and they are still undefeated. Sassuolo is in second place with 18 points, massive 20 scored goals, and only 9 conceded goals which makes them one of the best defensive teams in the league. Caputo has scored 5 goals for Sassuolo so far, while Berardi added 4 goals, and Djuricic has added 3 goals. Berardi also added 3 assists. Romagna is the only injured player for Sassuolo, while Defrel and Caputo are still questionable. Sassuolo was playing against Verona on the road last weekend, and they were solid with 49% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, 0 big chances created, and 77% of the correct passes. Sassuolo has won this match 0-2 with one scored goal in each half. Sassuolo hasn’t conceded a single goal in their last 3 games in Serie A, but the next two games will be hard for them. I don’t think anybody expected Sassuolo to be doing so well at the start of this season, but the question is if they can keep it up for most of the season.
Inter is in a crisis at the moment. With only 2 wins in their last 7 games, and still, without a win in the Champions League, Inter is not looking good. Inter has only 2 points in the Champions League, and they are in the last place in their group, but they can still advance to the next stage. For that to happen, Inter must win both of their games, while Real Madrid must lose both of their games, which is highly unlikely. Inter’s reality is the Europa League. In Serie A, Inter is in 5th place with 15 points, but there is plenty of time to get back on track. In their last game against Torino at home, Inter has had 55% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 1 corner kicks, 6 big chances created, and a solid 88% of the correct passes. Inter was losing 0-2. But with 4 scored goals in the second half, Inter has won this game 4-2. Lukaku has been in solid form so far, and he has scored 7 goals, while Martinez added 5 goals. Sanchez and Barella have each added 3 goals. Vecino is injured, while Padelli and Kolarov are still in quarantine. Pinamonti is still questionable. Inter is a good team, but this slump must end sometime, I just hope for Inter’s sake it ends sooner rather than later.
Sassuolo has won only 1 game at home so far this season, while Inter hasn’t lost a game on the road. I think this will be a great game filled with chances and goals, on both sides. I wouldn’t bet against Sassuolo at this time, which is why I will pick something on goals here.
