Inter is welcoming Bologna to Giuseppe Meazza in round 10 in the Italian Serie A.
Inter has bought themselves another chance in the Champions League with a nice win over M’gladbach on the road earlier this week, and even though they are still in the last place with 5 points, Inter can still advance to the next stage if they win their last game and if Real Madrid doesn’t win their game. In Serie A, Inter is in second place with 18 points, 23 scored goals, and 13 conceded goals so far. Inter was playing against fantastic Sassuolo on the road last weekend, and they have had only 35% of ball possession in that game, 4 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 82% of accurate passes. Inter was incredibly effective in the attacking end, and they have won this game 0-3. Lukaku has scored 7 goals for Inter so far this season, while Martinez added 5 goals. Sanchez and Barella have each added 3 assists for Inter. Vecino, Kolarov, and Nainggolan are all still injured, while Barella is questionable for this match. It’s not too much to say that Inter’s season is depending on their next Champions League game because they can either advance to the next stage, get into the Europa League, or lose everything, but I think Inter is a good team, and I think they will get a positive outcome out of this situation.
Bologna has been hot and cold so far this season, but they have won 4 of their last 6 games while losing 2 of those 6 games. Bologna’s latest win was against Crotone at home where Bologna had 49% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 10 corner kicks, and 3 big chances created. Bologna has won this game 1-0 with a goal scored in the 47th minute of the first half. With 12 points, 14 scored goals, and 14 conceded goals, Bologna is now in 10th place in the standings. Soriano has been in solid form so far this season, and he has scored 5 goals, while Barrow and Orsolini added 2 goals each. Dijks, Santander, and Orsolini are all injured. Bologna is not a bad team, but their form has been inconsistent so far this season. I think Bologna will not have any problems staying outside the relegation zone, but because they lack depth, I don’t see them getting anywhere near the Europa League.
Inter is the better team here, but I’m sure we can expect a few changes in the roster to rest some key players for the Champions League game. Despite Inter playing earlier this week, they are still the favorite, but I wouldn’t write Bologna off. When playing at home, Inter has lost their last 2 games to Bologna, but they have also won their last two road games against Bologna. I think this might be a rough game, but something is drawing towards a draw, which happened quite often in this matchup. I’m going to go with my gut here.
