Borussia Dortmund is welcoming VfB Stuttgart to Signal Iduna Park in round 11 in the German Bundesliga.
After three games without a win, Borussia has gotten back on the winning track with a nice win against Zenit in the Champions League. With that win, Borussia has remained at the top of their group, and they have advanced to the next stage. Borussia hasn’t won their last 2 Bundesliga games, and they are now in 5th place with 19 points, just 4 points away from Bayern at the top. In their last Bundesliga game, Borussia was playing against Eintracht on the road, and they have had 58% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 79% of the correct passes. Borussia was losing since the 9th minute, but they were able to tie the score in the 56th minute. Borussia has had some more chances until the end of the game, but they weren’t able to score. The final result was 1-1. Haaland is the leading goalscorer for Borussia with 10 goals, but he is injured. Schmeltzer, Akanji, Dahoud, Delaney, Meunier, and Morey are all also injured. Sancho has added 5 assists for Borussia, while Reyna added 4 assists. Borussia has a lot of injuries at the moment, but the good news is that the Champions League is over for now, and they will get more rest.
Stuttgart is a fantastic young team, and they are having a great season so far. Stuttgart has lost only 2 games so far this season, and they are now in 8th place with 14 points. It’s clear that Stuttgart will stay far outside the relegation zone this season, but I’m not sure they have the depth to reach the Europa League. Stuttgart was playing against Werder on the road last weekend, and they have had 47% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 77% of the correct passes. Stuttgart got ahead in the first half from the penalty spot, and they scored another goal in the 91st minute. Just two minutes later Werder has scored a consolation goal, and Stuttgart has won this game 1-2. Wamangituka has scored 5 goals for Stuttgart so far this season, while Gonzalez and Kalajdzic added 3 goals each. Kalajdzic also added 3 assists. Thommy, Awoudja, Al Ghaddioui, Cisse, Gonzalez, Didavi, and Karazor are all injured for Stuttgart. Great job for Stuttgart to start the season in this way after getting promoted to Bundesliga at the start of the season.
Stuttgart hasn’t won any of their last 3 games against Borussia, but Stuttgart still hasn’t lost a game on the road this season. Stuttgart hasn’t lost any of their last 8 games on the road overall. Both teams are struggling with injuries, but Borussia has more depth which is why I think they will handle this better. Even though I would give the advantage to Borussia, I will pick something on goals here.
