Borussia Dortmund vs. Hertha BSC 6/6/20 German Bundesliga Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction
2020-06-06 12:30:00 EDT
Borussia Dortmund is welcoming Hertha BSC to Signal Iduna Park in part of round 30 in German Bundesliga.
After their crucial loss against Bayern 2 weeks ago, Borussia was playing against Paderborn last weekend and has bounced back with a nice win, but I’m afraid it’s too little too late for Borussia. In that match against Paderborn, Borussia has had 67% of ball possession, 11 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, and 90% of the correct passes. Borussia Dortmund has won this game 1-6 with a hat-trick from Jadon Sancho. With 17 goals and 16 assists, Sancho has been Borussia’s best player this season and there are a lot of interested teams in Europa to sign him, with Manchester United ahead. Reus added 11 goals, while Haaland has 10 goals. Reus, Zagadou, and Dahoud are injured, while Hummels is suspended because of the yellow cards. Borussia Dortmund is in 2nd place in the standings with 60 points, 7 points behind Bayern, and 2 points ahead from Leipzig. There are still enough games left in Bundesliga for Borussia to take over the top, I just don’t think that Bayern can lose three games of the remaining 5. Borussia Dortmund is an incredibly talented team, especially on the offensive end, but they have been known to choke in the crucial moments, and it happened to them again. There are rumors that their current coach Favre will not survive to see the next season, so maybe the new head coach will be able to fix the problems Borussia has.
Hertha has been playing fantastic soccer since the season restarted, on both ends. Of their last 4 games, Hertha has won 3, while one game ended in a draw. Hertha has scored 11 goals in their last 4 games while conceding only 2 goals, as I’ve said, outstanding soccer on both ends. Thanks to their amazing run, Hertha is now in 9th place with 38 points, just 4 points away from the Europa League. Overall, Hertha is having a solid season where they scored 43 goals and conceded 50 goals. If only Hertha started playing better defense a bit sooner, they would be on the Europa League track right now. In their most recent match in Bundesliga against Augsburg last weekend, Hertha has had 51% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and 76% of accurate passes. With one goal in each half, Hertha has won this game 2-0. Lukebakio has scored 6 goals for Hertha this season, while Ibisevic added 5 goals. Ascacibar, Wolf, Plattenhardt, and Cunha are all injured, while Kalou is still suspended. Hertha has a tough schedule until the end of the season, but they have proven that they can play good and consistent soccer on both ends. Will Hertha end up in the Europa League, I don’t think so, but they will be far from the relegation zone.
Dortmund has had plenty of success against Hertha at home, but I can’t just dismiss Hertha’s good form. Both teams need a win, and Borussia is missing their best defender in Hummels. I will stick to goals in this one.
