Inter is welcoming Sampdoria to Giuseppe Meazza in round 25 of the Italian Serie A.

Inter hasn’t started the season well after the long break and they got knocked out of the Coppa Italia last week by Napoli, the team that won the Coppa Italia title earlier this week against Juventus. In the Serie A, Inter is slipping further and further away from Juventus and Lazio at the top, and the season they were hoping will be theirs and turned into a nightmare. Inter is now in 3rd place with 54 points, 9 points less than Juventus. Of course, there is still enough time for Inter to catch up, but for that to happen, Inter must find the form from the beginning of the season. Their defense is still solid with only 24 conceded goals, but their offense is nothing compared to Lazio or Atalanta. Inter has scored 49 goals this season. In their last Serie A match against Juventus on the road, Inter has had 47% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 86% of the correct passes. This was the game that Inter was not supposed to lose, but they did. The result was 2-0. Lukaku has scored 17 goals for Inter and is one of the best goal scorers in Serie A, while Martinez added 11 goals. D’Ambrosio, Godin, and Vecino are still questionable for this game. The problem for Inter is that Lautaro Martinez is probably leaving Inter and will go to Barcelona, at least those are the rumors. Inter is playing much better soccer than they did for many years, but there are still some kinks they need to work on. Once that is fixed, Inter might finally take the title from Juventus.

Sampdoria is playing hot and cold this season and they are in 16th place in the standings with 26 points, just 1 point outside the relegation zone. With only 28 scored goals, Sampdoria is one of the weakest teams in Serie A, while their defense isn’t much better either with 44 conceded goals. From their last 6 games in Serie A, before the season was paused, Sampdoria has won only 2 games and was able to keep only 1 clean sheet. Fabio Quagliarella is Sampdoria’s best player with 9 scored goals, while Gabbiadini added 6 goals. Alex Ferrari is the only injured player for Sampdoria. In their last Serie A match against Verona at home, Sampdoria has had 48% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, and 80% of the correct passes. Sampdoria was losing at the half-time, but they had enough focus in the second half to tun this game around, and Sampdoria has won this match 2-1. Claudio Ranieri is one of the most iconic Italian coaches, and with him at the helm, I think that Sampdoria won’t have problems with staying in the Italian Serie A.

Inter’s home record this season is 7-4-1, and they have won most of their home games against Sampdoria. With one game in their feet from last week, I’m giving the advantage to Inter in this matchup.
