Real Sociedad is welcoming Granada to Reale Arena in round 35 in Spanish LaLiga.

After losing 4 straight games, Sociedad has finally won a game and got a draw in their most recent LaLiga game. With these two positive games, Sociedad has stayed in the hunt for the Europa League and is now in 7th place with 51 points, just 2 points away from Getafe in 6th. Real Sociedad has scored 51 goals this season and is among the best offensive teams in LaLiga, but their defense has been bad with 43 conceded goals so far. In their last LaLiga game against Levante on the road, Sociedad has had 54% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, and 82% of the correct passes. Early in the first half, we saw 2 goals, one on each side, and the result didn’t change again. The final score was 1-1. Jose has scored 10 goals for Sociedad this season, while Oyarzabal and Isak both added 9 goals. Oyarzabal also has 11 assists. The injury list in Sociedad is quite long with Guevara, Sangalli, Illarramendi, Januzaj, Bautista, and Zaldua all on it. None of these players will play in this match. To be honest, I don’t like Sociedad’s chances to get to the Europa League because they have 3 hard games in their 3 last games of the season, against Villarreal, Sevilla, and Atletico Madrid. Seeing how bad their form was, I’m not convinced that Sociedad can beat any of those teams.

Granada has been solid after the restart with 2 wins, 4 draws, and 2 losses in their last 8 games. Granada is undefeated in their last 2 games, and they scored 4 goals while conceding 2 goals during this stretch. Overall, a successful season for Granada and they are safely outside the relegation zone in 10th place with 47 points. Granada has been decent offensively with 42 scored goals, but if their defense has been just a bit better, Granada might have been closer to the Europa League. Granada has conceded 40 goals so far this season. Fernandes has scored 8 goals for Granada, while Machis added 6 goals. Diaz added 5 assists. Montoro, Martinez, Quini, Lozano, and Gonalons are all injured, while Vadillo is still questionable. In their latest LaLiga game against Valencia at home, Granada was the better team with 53% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and 75% of the correct passes. The first half of this game was slow with no goals, but the second half was a blast. We saw two goals on each side in the second half and this match ended in a 2-2 draw. Granada could still reach the Europa League as they are only 6 points away and there are 12 points available to win until the end of the season, but there are stronger teams competing for the same spot and I just don’t think Granada has the quality and the depth to do so.

Granada hasn’t won any of their last 5 games against Sociedad, but Granada also hasn’t won any of their last 5 away games. Both Sociedad and Granada have a lot of injuries, and both of their defenses are shaky at best after the restart. With that being said, both of these teams can score goals, and for that reason, I will pick something on goals here.
