SC Paderborn 07 is welcoming Borussia Dortmund to Benteler-Arena in round 29 of German Bundesliga.

Paderborn might have not won any of their last 3 games, but they have won 3 points from them, I guess something is better than nothing. The last match that Paderborn has won was back in January against Freiburg. Since then, Paderborn has played 9 games, from which they lost 5, while 4 ended in a draw. Paderborn is in the last place in Bundesliga with only 19 points, and their chances to stay in Bundesliga next season are slim to none. Surprisingly, Paderborn’s defense is not the worst in Bundesliga, and they conceded 55 goals in 28 games, almost an average of 2 goals per game. In their last match against Augsburg on the road, Paderborn was solid with 45% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 79% of the correct passes. This wasn’t a particularly good game to watch and enjoy soccer, not a lot of good chances and good plays. This game ended in a 0-0 draw. Srbeny and Mamba have each scored 5 goals for Paderborn this season, while Proger added 6 assists. Kilian is the only injured player for Paderborn. At this point of the season, and Paderborn being so far from the safe zone, there is not much they can play for except their fans, but even that doesn’t mean much with the empty stands these days.

Borussia Dortmund had only one objective in their match against Bayern earlier this week, and that was not to lose because their chances of winning the title would drop drastically, and that is exactly what happened. Borussia is known to choke in the most important games, but I was hoping it wouldn’t happen again. Borussia Dortmund was actually the better team in that match with 51% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal 4 corner kicks, and 85% of the correct passes. Borussia created a few good chances in this match, but they were not brave enough to push forward, not even when Borussia was losing. Bayern has scored a goal at the end of the first half, and it stayed the same for the rest of the match. Borussia now has 57 points and is still in second place in the standings, 7 points less than Bayern at the top. Of course, there are still enough games left for Borussia to get on top, but that means Bayern would need to lose at least two games, and I just don’t see it happening. Sancho is still leading goal scorer for Borussia with 14 goals and 16 assists, while Reus has 11 goals, and Haaland has 10 goals. Reus, Zagadou, Unbenhaun, and Oelschlagel are injured and will skip this match. Haaland has left the game against Bayern early due to an injury, but he should be ready for this match, probably not in the starting lineup though. The only battle left for Dortmund is for second place, but if by some miracle they find themselves in a chance to get to the first place, I really hope they do.

Paderborn is in a terrible form and they have never won a game against Borussia Dortmund. I think Borussia Dortmund gets back on winning track against the least talented team in Bundesliga.
