Valencia is hosting Real Valladolid at Mestalla in round 35 in Spanish LaLiga.

Valencia has been a disaster dating back before the restart, but their terrible form came to light after the restart. In their last games, Valencia has 1 win, 4 losses, and 2 draws. During this stretch, Valencia has conceded 11 goals while scoring only 5 goals. With 47 points, Valencia is further and further from the Europa League, and they are now in 10th place in the standings. Offensively, Valencia has been solid this season with 43 scored goals, but their defense was bad, and Valencia has conceded 50 goals so far. In their latest LaLiga game against Granada this past weekend, Valencia has had 47% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and low 70% of the correct passes. This was a fun game, well, at least the second half was where we saw 4 goals, 2 on each side, and this game ended in a 2-2 draw. Gomez and Parejo have both scored 8 goals for Valencia this season, while Gameiro added 5 goals. Moreno has 7 assists, while Wass added 6 assists. Piccini, Gaya, and Moreno are all injured, while Torres is still questionable. I was hoping Valencia can snap out of their losing streak against Granada, and in a way, they did, but I just don’t see this bad form ending for Valencia this season. They will stay out of the relegation zone, but that’s about it.

Valladolid has been playing some solid soccer since the restart and they have only 1 loss in their last 7 games. With this nice run, Valladolid has escaped the relegation zone and they are now in high 13th place with 39 points. Valladolid isn’t scoring a lot of goals, and they are way below the average, but that doesn’t matter to them much. Valladolid has scored only 28 goals so far this season. Guardiola and Unal have both scored 6 goals for Valladolid this season. Fernandes, Caro, and Herrero are all injured, while Ramirez and Porro are questionable. In their latest LaLiga game against Alaves at home, Valladolid was a slightly better team with 53% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, and 74% of the correct passes. Valladolid has won this game 1-0 with a goal in the 88th minute of the game. Valladolid might not have an attractive offense, but their defense has been solid this season and they conceded only 37 goals, which is among the best defensive teams in the league. All that matters to Valladolid is that they are outside the relegation zone and that they will stay in LaLiga next season as well.

I have zero faith in Valencia at this point, but I will still side with them in this game. Valencia is a good team caught in a bad spell, and it seems they can score goals again, and the good news for Valencia is that Valladolid isn’t creating a lot of chances which will certainly help their defense.
