Eintracht Frankfurt is welcoming Bayer Leverkusen to Commerzbank Arena in round 14 in German Bundesliga.
Eintracht was not in good form, and they were on an 11-game streak without a win, but they have lost only 4 of those 11 games. The good news for Eintracht is that they snapped out of that negative streak with a nice win against Augsburg on the road. Eintracht has had 55% of ball possession in that game, 6 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 5 big chances created, and 76% of the correct passes. It took a while for Eintracht to score, but they were able to score 2 goals in the second half, and Eintracht has won this game 0-2. With this win, Eintracht has climbed to 9th place with 17 points, and their offense is solid with 21 scored goals while conceding 22 goals in 13 games. Andre Silva has been in great form, and he has scored 9 goals and added 2 assists so far, while Dost has 4 goals. Kamada has added 4 assists. Ache is the only injured player, while Rode is suspended because of the yellow cards. If Eintracht can stay on the positive track, we will see them in the Europa League battle, but if not, 7th place will be the maximum for Eintracht this season.
After being the best team in Bundesliga, and being undefeated for 12 games, Leverkusen was facing Bayern just before Christmas, and they gambled away a good result. Leverkusen is now in 2nd place with 28 points, 28 scored goals, and only 12 conceded goals so far. In the game against Bayern at home, Leverkusen has had 50% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 0 big chances created, and 80% of the correct passes. Leverkusen got ahead in the 14th minute, but Bayern tied the game in the 43rd minute. As the game was coming to an end, Leverkusen has had a point in their pocket, until the 93rd minute when their defense made a terrible mistake, and Leverkusen lost this match 1-2. Alario is the leading goalscorer for Leverkusen with 8 goals, while Schick and Bailey have added 4 goals each. Amiri has 5 assists, while Bailey added 4 assists. Arias, Paulinho, Aranguiz, Palacios, Sinkgrave, Wendell, and Bender are all injured for Leverkusen, and they will most likely miss this game. I gotta say, I’m surprised with Leverkusen, positively, because I didn’t think they have the depth to be one of the best teams in Bundesliga, and if they can keep all of their players through the winter transfer window, I can see Leverkusen close to the top.
Frankfurt hasn’t lost a home game so far this season, but Leverkusen is still undefeated on the road. Frankly, I think Eintracht could get a win here because of all the injuries Leverkusen has, but I will take the goals here because I think this will be an open game with a lot of chances.
