Lazio is hosting Cagliari at Stadio Olimpico in round 21 in the Italian Serie A.
Lazio has raised their form drastically over the last month or so, and they have won 6 of their last 7 games. During this streak, Lazio has scored impressive 16 goals while conceding 7 goals. Thanks to their nice run, Lazio is back in the Champions League spot race, and they are now in 7th place with 37 points, just 3 points away from that spot. Lazio is improving on both ends, and they have scored 35 goals so far while conceding 27 goals in 20 games. Immobile is once again the leading goalscorer for Lazio with 13 goals, while Caicedo and Alberto added 6 goals each. Milinkovic-Savic and Lazzari have added 5 assists each. Felipe, Strakosha, and Caicedo are injured, while Patric is suspended because of the yellow cards. After losing to Atalanta in Coppa Italia, Lazio was facing the same opponent in Serie A just a few days later, and they have had a good game. Lazio has had 43% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 71% of the correct passes. Lazio’s attack scored everything they could have, and it was enough for a nice 1-3 win on the road. Lazio is in great form at the moment, and I wouldn’t like to step in front of them right now.
Cagliari is a disaster, and they have been for a while now. Cagliari’s defense is one of the weakest defenses in the league with 38 conceded goals, and while their offense was producing nicely at the start of the season, they have since cooled off. Cagliari has scored only 24 goals in 20 games this season. in their last Serie A game, Cagliari was playing against Sassuolo at home, and they have had incredibly low 29% of ball possession, but they somehow managed to get 5 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 78% of the correct passes. After getting ahead in the 75th minute, everything looked wonderful for Cagliari, but they conceded a goal in the 94th minute of the game, and the final score was 1-1. Cagliari is now in 18th place with 15 points, but the good news for them is that they are only 1 point away from safety, but the bad news is that Cagliari has to start winning some points, which is something they are not good at. Joao Pedro has scored 11 goals for Cagliari, while Simeone added 5 goals. Zappa has added 4 assists. Zito, Rog, and Deiolo are injured, while Duncan is still questionable for this match. The only way for Cagliari not to get relegated is to stay outside the relegation zone, but honestly, I’m not sure they can do that.
Cagliari hasn’t won any of their last 13 games, while they also haven’t won any of their last 8 games on the road. When playing at home, Lazio has not lost to Cagliari in their last 9 games. The trends are heavily on Lazio’s side, and this is a no brainer for me. I’m taking Lazio at home.
