Levante is welcoming Atletico Madrid to Ciudad de Valencia in a postponed game of round 2 in the Spanish LaLiga.
Levante is in great form, and they were undefeated for 10 games, until this past weekend. Levante was playing against Osasuna in their last game, and they were the dominant team with 63% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 76% of the correct passes. Levante was attacking but they couldn’t score a goal. In the 74th minute, Levante has conceded a goal, and they were now behind. In the 79th minute, Levante has had a penalty kick, but they missed. Levante has lost this game 0-1. With 27 points, 31 scored goals, and 32 conceded goals, Levante is in 11th place, and even though they still have a shot to reach the Europa League, I think it’s just a dream for them. Morales is the leading goalscorer for Levante with 10 goals, while Marti added 9 goals. De Frutos has added 6 assists. Vukcevic, Campana, and Melero are all injured for Levante. In their last 16 games, Levante has lost only 2 games, which is a fantastic run for them, but I think it might be a few weeks before their next win in LaLiga.
Atletico Madrid is once again on a roll, and they have won 5 of their last 6 games, while one game ended in a draw. Atletico Madrid is the best team in Spain this season, and they are in first place with 54 points, a fantastic 44 scored goals, and only 13 conceded goals in 21 games. Atletico was playing against Granada in their last game in LaLiga, and they have had impressive 62% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks,1 big chance created, and 78% of the correct passes. It wasn’t the best game for Atletico this season, but they were still able to win 1-2, on the road I might add. Suarez has been absolutely lights out this season, and he has scored 16 goals so far, while Llorente added 7 goals and 5 assists. Correa has also added 5 assists. Dembele, Lemar, Herrera, and Trippier are all injuries for Atletico Madrid at this time. In their Champions League game next week, Atletico Madrid is hosting Chelsea, and it’s important for them to keep their form on a high level, which means they need to win their next two games, one on the road and one at home. Atletico is playing fantastic soccer on both ends, and they are no longer just a defensive team. I see Atletico Madrid winning the LaLiga title this season, and it’s not even a competition.
Levante has been solid at home so far this season, but Atletico Madrid is on a 3-game winning streak on the road. Atletico Madrid is the better team here, a team with more depth and sharper offense, and the trends are on their side. I’m taking Atletico Madrid on the road.
