Napoli is welcoming Granada to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in the second leg of the Round of 32 in the Europa League.
Here we go again with Napoli and their consistency problems. Napoli has lost 4 of their last 5 games, including the first leg game of this matchup last week. Napoli was dominant with possession in that game, 62%, they have had 1 shot on goal, 6 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and a high 90% of the correct passes. Napoli’s defense was incredibly sloppy in this game, and they have conceded 2 goals in the first half. Napoli wasn’t able to get back into this game, and they ended up losing 2-0. After this game, Napoli was playing against Atalanta in Serie A, and they ended up losing this game as well, 4-2 was the final score. Napoli has major problems on the defensive end lately, and their offense is just not good enough, and if we add the injuries they have into the mix, you get just an average team in Napoli. In Serie A, Napoli is 3 spots away from the Champions League spot, and they just don’t have the depth to compete in both competitions.
Granada is also struggling, but they are getting into this game with a massive advantage. Granada has won only 1 of their last 6 games, and it was a game against Napoli last week. In their last LaLiga game, Granada was playing against Huesca on the road, and they have had only 40% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 71% of the correct passes. Granada has lost this game 3-2 after leading 0-1 in the 8th minute. Thanks to this loss, Granada has dropped to 9th place with 30 points, and they have scored only 29 goals so far this season. Suarez and Herrera are the leading goalscorers for Granada in the Europa League with only 2 goals each. Herrera, Lozano, Suarez, Milla, Soldado, and Sanchez are all injured for Granada at this time. Offensively, Granada is one of the weakest teams in LaLiga, and they are not any better in the Europa League, but this 2-goal advantage is huge. Granada has a lot of injuries, and they did in the first leg as well, but I’m not sure Granada can play two good games in a row.
I know that Napoli is struggling, and I know they have some important injuries, but Granada is the weaker team here, and they are in equally bad form. I will take Napoli to qualify to the next stage despite being 2 goals behind because they are due for a breakout win.
