Paris Saint-Germain is welcoming Barcelona to Parc des Princes in the second leg of Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League.
PSG is on a 3-game winning streak while losing only 1 of their last 9 games. During these 9 games, PSG has scored impressive 20 goals while conceding only 4 goals. In Ligue 1, PSG is in second place with 60 points, and they are 2 points behind Lille at the top of the table. PSG is coming into this matchup with a massive advantage after beating Barcelona on the road a few weeks ago, and it was 1-4 in their favor. PSG didn’t play in Ligue 1 last weekend, but they have beaten Brest on the road in the French Cup. Neymar has been playing well in the Champions League for PSG, and he has scored 6 goals so far, but unfortunately, he is injured, supposedly. Mbappe added 5 goals and 3 assists. Alongside Neymar, Bernat, Florenzi, and Kean are all injured, and they will miss this game. PSG is a good and dangerous team, as they proved before, but they need to be careful here because they got burned by Barcelona in the past, and also in the Champions League knockout stage.
After getting embarrassed by PSG a few weeks ago, Barcelona was able to gather their thoughts, and they haven’t lost any of their last 5 games while winning their last 4 straight games. During their 4-game winning streak, Barcelona has been impressive on the defensive end with 0 conceded goals while scoring 10 goals, and they have advanced to the Copa del Rey finals. In their last game against Osasuna, Barcelona was the dominant team with 64% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 0 big chances created, and a solid 89% of the correct passes. With 1 scored goal in each half, Barcelona has won this game 0-2, even though it could have been a lot better if they used a few more of their chances. Barcelona is now in 2nd place in the standings with 56 points, 3 points less than Atletico Madrid. Messi is the leading goalscorer for Barcelona in the Champions League with 4 goals, while Dembele and Braithwaite added 3 goals each. Fati, Dembele, and Alba each added 2 assists. Coutinho, Roberto, Pique, and Araujo are all injured, and they will most likely miss this game. Barcelona is now in good form, and they are playing well on both ends, but if they want to have a chance at advancing to the next stage, they will need to play outstanding soccer on both ends, and I honestly think they can do it.
There is no shortage of goals when these two teams meet, and since Barcelona has to score at least 4 goals here, I don’t think we will miss goals here as well. You can never underestimate Barcelona because if they get rolling, they will not be stopped, but it’s a massive task ahead of them. For Barcelona to qualify, the odds are +1400, so you can out a few bucks on that one, but I’m taking the goals here.
