Sevilla is hosting Real Betis at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in round 27 in the Spanish LaLiga.
Sevilla has completely cooled off, and it cost them a lot over the last couple of weeks. Sevilla got knocked out of Copa del Rey, and they got knocked out of the Champions League earlier this week against Borussia Dortmund. In LaLiga, Sevilla is also in danger of losing their 4th spot to Real Sociedad, and they can’t afford to lose any more games. Sevilla is not scoring a lot of goals, only 35 goals in total, but their defense has been fantastic with only 20 conceded goals. In their last LaLiga game against Elche on the road, Sevilla has had 64% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 86% of the correct passes. Despite all of their dominance and created chances, Sevilla was able to score only 1 goal, and they ended up losing this match 2-1. En-Nesyri is the leading goalscorer for Sevilla with 13 goals, while Jordan added 5 assists. Vidal is now the only injured player for Sevilla. I know Sevilla has lost a lot recently, but they are still a good team, and now the pressure of the Champions League is off, and Sevilla can focus solely on LaLiga where they need to keep winning to stay in that Champions League spot.
Betis on the other hand is playing their best soccer of the season, and they are on a 4-game winning streak while winning 6 of their last 8 games. Thanks to this amazing run, Betis is now in 6th place with 42 points, and that is the Europa League spot. Defensively, Betis is still a disaster, but the difference is that their offense started to pick up the slack, and that has helped Betis a lot. In their last game against Alaves at home, Betis has had an impressive 77% of ball possession, 8 shots on goal, 12 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and a solid 89% of the correct passes. Betis’ defense was once again terrible in the first half, and they were losing 0-2, but in the second half, Betis has stepped up, and they were able to score 3 goals and to win this game 3-2. Canales has scored 7 goals and added 7 assists for Betis so far this season, while Iglesias has added 6 goals. Camarasa, Bartra, Martin, and Ruiz are all injured for Betis at this time. This amazing run has certainly raised Betis’ confidence, and I bet they feel they can beat everyone, but with the defense inconsistent as theirs, I know they can.
Sevilla hasn’t won any of their last 4 games, while Betis is on a 4-game winning streak. The trends are on Sevilla’s side, but I will ignore them here. Sevilla can’t be trusted right now, but with Betis’ defense, anything is possible. I’m taking the goals here.
