Belgium is welcoming Wales to Den Dreef in round 1 of the World Cup Qualifications.
France might be the biggest favorite to win the Euro Cup according to bookies, but Belgium is my favorite. Belgium is playing the best and the prettiest soccer in the world, and they can score a ton of goals against any opponent out there, even the best defensive teams. Belgium is on a 4-game winning streak, and with Lukaku playing in brilliant form this season, and De Bruyne is probably the best midfielder out there, Belgium is very dangerous. During this 4-game winning streak, Belgium has scored 10 goals while conceding 4 goals, and they were able to keep one clean sheet. In their last game against Denmark at home, Belgium has had 51% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 86% of ball possession, Belgium has scored 4 goals, and they have won this game 4-2. I don’t think Belgium could have gotten the easier group in these qualifications, and this will be a walk in the park for them. Eden Hazard is still injured for Belgium, but I don’t think his absence will be notable because Belgium has a lot of players that can replace him, and for that reason, I expect a good game from them even though they haven’t played in 4 months.
Wales is a defensive team, at least they are trying to be, but Wales is still scoring a solid number of goals. Wales is also on a 2-game winning streak, while they haven’t lost in their last 5 games. In the Euro Cup this summer, Wales will play against Italy, Switzerland, and Turkey, and I gotta say, I like their chances. Wales has also won their Nations League group, and quite dominantly I might add, but they have scored only 7 goals in 6 games. Bale is expected to play in this game, and so is Ramsey and Manchester United’s Daniel James. Wales was hosting Finland in their last game, and they were the dominant team with a massive 60% of ball possession 10 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 91% of the correct passes. Wales has had an extra player on the field after Finland conceded a red card in the 12th minute, and they used it. Wales has won this match 3-1. Bale has been playing in good form, and he is definitely their most dangerous player, but without support from his teammates, it will be hard for Bale to find space to have an impact on this game.
Belgium has beaten Wales only once in the past, and they have lost their last 2 games against Wales, both on the road. Belgium hasn’t lost any of their last 25 home games, while Wales hasn’t lost any of their last 5 games. I know Wales will focus on the defense here, but there is no way they can stop Lukaku, De Bruyne, and Mertens, and these just some of Belgium’s dangerous players.
