Manchester City and Leeds United are clashing at Etihad Stadium in round 31 in the English Premier League.
City continues to play the best soccer in Europe, and they have beaten Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League earlier this week, but that matchup is far from over. In the EPL, City is undefeated in their last 3 games, and they are at the top of the table with 74 points, and they will win the title. An interesting fact is that City has the chance to win 4 trophies this season, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they do it. City is the best offensive and the best defensive team in the EPL this season, and they absolutely deserve the title. In their last EPL game against Leicester on the road, City was the better team with 57% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, 3 big chances created, and 88% of the correct passes. Manchester City was patient in this game, and it paid off. With 2 scored goals in the second half, City has won this match 0-2. City has a lot of depth, and their leading goalscorer is Gundogan with 12 goals, while De Bruyne added 10 assists. I think City is the only team in the world that doesn’t need a striker, and I would love to see them winning the Champions League this season.
Leeds is finally on a positive streak, and they haven’t lost any of their last 3 games while winning 2 of those 3 games. Leeds has scored 4 goals during this streak while conceding 2 goals. With this streak, Leeds has gained some distance from the relegation zone, and they are now in 11th place with 42 points, 47 scored goals, and 48 conceded goals so far. Bamford has cooled off a bit, but he is still Leeds’ leading goalscorer with 14 goals. Rapinha has added 6 assists. Forshaw is the only injured player for Leeds at the moment. In their last EPL game, Leeds was hosting Sheffield, and they have had a great game with 54% of ball possession, 8 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 79% of the correct passes. With a goal in the 12th minute and Sheffield’s own goal in the 49th minute, Leeds has deservedly won this game 2-1. The Europa League spot is far from Leeds, and I just don’t see them getting there, but there are a lot of good things in Leeds’ game, and I really enjoy watching them play.
Leeds has won only 1 game on the road against Manchester City, but they are in good form, and since City is playing in the Champions League next week, they could be a threat to them here. City is the best team in England, and they are playing the best soccer, and they are used to the high pace. I’m taking the goals here.
