Turkey and Wales are traveling to Baku Olympic Stadium to play in round 2 of Group A in the Euro Cup 2021. After 6 games without a loss, Turkey dropped points against Italy in round 1 in this tournament. Wales hasn’t been able to win any of their last 3 games, but they also haven’t won any of their last 2 games.
I said before the tournament that Turkey will be fighting with Switzerland for that second place in this group, and I still think that will be the case. In their first game of this tournament against Italy, Turkey has had only 37% of ball possession, 0 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 78% of the correct passes. In the first half, Turkey was defending well, but it was only a matter of time before they lost focus. Turkey has conceded 2 goals in the second half, and they have lost this match 0-3. At the moment, Turkey is in last place in Group A, but the good news is that Wales and Switzerland are only 1 point away. Turkey is a solid team with some great players, but Italy was just too strong for them, which will not be the case with Wales.
As much as Wales was the underdog in their first game against Switzerland, they have done a great job, and they have won 1 point. Wales has had a low 36% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 0 big chances created, and 82% of the correct passes. Wales has conceded a goal first, in the 49th minute, but they were able to score a goal in the 74th minute. We didn’t see any more goals, and the final score of this match was 1-1. Wales now has 2 draws in a row, and I believe they would be happy with a draw in this game as well, but a win would probably get them through to the next stage. Keffer Moore is the only goalscorer for Wales at the moment with 1 goal. Bale and Ramsey are still warming up, but they will really need to step up their game here because it could cost them a lot if they don’t. I gotta say, I think this is the golden opportunity for Wales because they are playing against the team that is not in great form, and Wales can certainly beat them, or at least get a draw.
It’s been a long, long time since these two teams have played a game against each other. I think Turkey is the better team, the deeper team, but Wales is a team that will fight until the end to get a positive result. I think this will be a tough game, especially for Wales, but I think they will get a draw out of it.
