Italy and England are clashing at Wembley Stadium in the Finals of the Euro Cup 2021. Italy is the team that has shown the most in this tournament, and they have scored 12 goals while conceding only 3 goals. England is the host nation in this tournament, and they have conceded only 1 goal so far, but their offense isn’t producing as much as it should.
Italy has been outstanding in this tournament, and before that, and they are now undefeated in their last 33 games. Italy is also on a 14-game winning streak. In their semifinals match against Spain, Italy has had 30% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, 1 big chance created, and 74% of the correct passes. It wasn’t a bad game from Italy regardless of low possession, which is normal against Spain, but Italian defense was outstanding. In the 60th minute, Italy has scored the leading goal, but they have conceded one as well in the 80th minute. There was no winner after the overtime, and we proceeded to the penalty shootout. Italy was better in the penalty shootout, and they have deservedly won this game. Locatelli, Pessina, Immobile, Insigne, and Chiesa have each scored 2 goals for Italy in this tournament. Verratti has added 2 assists. Spinazzola is the only injured player for Italy, which is a shame because he was their best player. If Italy wins this tournament, it would be well-deserved, and they definitely have the qualify and the game style to beat England.
Regardless of how England got here, and I am talking about that phantom penalty kick in the overtime against Denmark, England is a solid team, they have a lot of depth, and they are playing well, especially on the defensive end. England has conceded only 1 goal so far in this tournament, but we can’t really say they have been playing against some offensive firepower teams. In their semifinal match against Denmark, England was the better team with 58% of ball possession, 10 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 4 big chances created, and 87% of the correct passes. England has conceded first, in the 30th minute, and it was the best goal of the tournament yet. With an own goal from Denmark in the 39th minute, England has tied the score, and the result hasn’t changed until the 104th minute when England was awarded that penalty. Schmeichel has saved the penalty, but the rebound went back to Kane who scored his 4th goal of the tournament. Sterling has added 3 goals, while Maguire and Henderson added 1 goal each. Shaw has 3 assists. That phantom penalty kick has turned every non-English fan in the world against England, and rightfully so, but that aside, England is still a great team, they have a lot of talent, and they have a lot of room to grow.
England has beaten Italy only once, and that was back in 2012. England does have a huge home-field advantage here, and they are in good form, but so is Italy. I think this will be a fantastic game, I think we will see a ton of chances, and I will side with Italy who was the better team for a nice plus money.
