Leicester City vs. Manchester City 8/7/21 Community Shield Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Leicester City and Manchester City are clashing at Wembley Stadium in the Community Shield finals. Leicester was playing solid soccer, but the Champions League spot has escaped them by only 1 point. Manchester City has won the Premier League title last season, and quite dominantly I might add.

Leicester has made a few great transfers in the offseason, starting with Daka from Salzburg, Soumare from Lille, and Bertrand from Southampton in a free transfer. The great news for Leicester is all of their players have stayed with the club, at least for now, apart from Morgan who retired. Leicester has played only 4 games in the preseason, and they have lost 2, tied 1 game, while winning only 1 game, and their form is far from their best. Leicester is now fully stacked on each position, starting with 5 strikers that will give them options when Vardy will struggle, they have some great midfielders that will give them more assists and more creativity, and a solid defense that should be more consistent than last season. Nobody is considering Leicester to be the title contender, and understandably so, but they weren’t the favorites when they won the title a few years ago. I think Leicester will have a solid season, and they will be in the Champions League race for sure.

City has won the title last season, but their main goal is in the Champions League, and they will certainly be the favorites this season. Let’s start with the departures from Manchester City, and the most notable ones were Aguero and Garcia who left for Barcelona in free transfers. As far as the arrivals go, City has signed only Grealish in a massive 117 million Euros from Aston Villa, but they are not done now that Messi is available, and Kane being on their radar. City has played 3 friendly games so far, and they were all wins against lower-division teams. Manchester City has conceded only 32 goals last season, the least in the league, but they were also the best offensive team with 83 scored goals. City has also reached the Champions League finals last season where they played against Chelsea, and they have had a solid game, but they ended up losing 0-1. Manchester City is in good form, they are scoring a lot of goals, and that is important before the season starts next week, and City is once again the biggest favorite to win the EPL once again.

Leicester hasn’t had a lot of success against City, and this game will not be easy for them. Because neither team has played a competitive game yet, I think we might be watching somewhat sloppy soccer, but still good. City is the favorite here, and deservedly so because they have had better preseason, but I will stick to goals in this one.
