Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City face off on Sunday in their first English Premier League game of the season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This is the last game of the weekend, and the marquee matchup. 

The last time these two teams faced off was in April in the EFL Cup, and that was a game that Manchester City was able to win 1-0. 

Manchester City has high expectations heading into the season after winning the Premier League title last season. Even though they found success this season, they weren’t shy about spending money. Manchester City signed Jack Grealish who broke the British transfer record. Manchester City’s last game against Leicester City, and the offense couldn’t get anything going scoring zero goals. This is a high goal-scoring team, and the offense needs to be better in this game. 

On the other side of this matchup is Tottenham Hotspur who had some struggles last season finishing in seventh place in the standings. There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding this team heading into this season. Tottenham Hotspur was busy during the transfer window bringing in Bryan Gil, Pierluigi Gollini, and Cristian Romero. The big question heading into this game for Tottenham though is the status of Harry Kane. It’s unclear if the team is going to move Kane to a different team and even if he stays, it’s unclear if he’s going to be able to go in this game. The last game for Tottenham was against Arsenal, and that led to Tottenham coming away with the 1-0 victory. 

One team that is going after Kane is Manchester City, but it’s unclear if a deal is going to get it done.
