Jamaica vs. Panama 9/5/21 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifications Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Jamaica and Panama face off on Sunday in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifications at National Stadium Independence Park. These two teams last faced off in 2019 and it was Jamaica that came away with the 1-0 victory. 

Jamaica opened up their CONCACAF world cup qualifiers with a loss against Mexico 2-1. The final score says 2-1, Jamaica was really dominated most of the game finishing with only 27 percent of the possession. Jamaica had five shots and only one shot on goal. That one shot was by Shamar Nicholson in the 65th minute, and that one found the back of the net. The last win by Jamaica came back on July 16th against Guadeloupe by a final score of 2-1. In this game if Jamaica wants a chance to come away with the victory they are going to need to have more control of the ball and have more scoring chances. 

On the other side of this matchup is Panama who opened up this qualifying tournament against Costa Rica, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw. Panama actually had 18 shots and 57 percent of the possession, but only two shots went on goal and none found the back of the net. The previous game before that for Panama was against Grenada and the offense was the difference as they put three goals in the back of the net. Panama knows they can get scoring chances, they just need to do a better job of finishing them. 

This is a game where I think Panama can pull the upset. I expect Panama will control the tempo of this game, and they will get more scoring choices. Panama proved they could control tempo, and they will do it again in this game. They will finish a few of those chances and Panama will come away with the victory.
