Barcelona is hosting Bayern Munich at Camp Nou in a clash of round 1 in Group E in the UEFA Champions League. Barcelona has been doing well so far, but their defense is still really sloppy. Bayern has been a goalscoring machine as usual, but their defense has also been really sloppy.

Barcelona is undefeated in their last 4 games, and since the preseason started, they have lost only 1 game. So far in LaLiga, Barcelona has scored 7 goals while conceding 4 goals, and the bad news is they have conceded in each of their 3 LaLiga games so far. I would say Barcelona go lucky in the Champions League because they have been drawn into a solid group, and I think they won’t have any problems advancing to the next stage. There are still some injuries in Barcelona, but they haven’t been playing a game this past weekend in LaLiga, and that is something that should go their way. Barcelona is holding well without Messi, but we will see if they can replace all of his goals, at least up to a point, and to add to that, they sold Griezmann. Tough days are ahead of Barcelona.

As I’ve mentioned, Bayern has been a goalscoring machine, and they have scored 27 goals in their last 5 games while conceding only 4 goals. In Bundesliga, Bayern is in 2nd place with 10 points, which is only 2 points away from the top, but I have no doubt they will get there soon. In their game against Leipzig in Bundesliga this past weekend, Bayern has had 47% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 7 big chances created, and only 76% of the correct passes. In every aspect Bayern was bad in this game, Leipzig was much worse. With 4 scored goals, Bayern has deservedly won this match 1-4. Bayern is getting along nicely, their defense is recovering, and the reign of Julian Nagelsmann is beginning in Bayern. The team that has Lewandowski doesn’t need to worry about goals, and they have a lot of young and talented players to support him, and he is in brilliant form at the moment. Bayern is always the biggest favorite to win the Bundesliga title, but they are also one of the biggest favorites to win the Champions League.

We all remember what Bayern did to Barcelona last time they met, but I think this time it will go a little differently. Barcelona is doing a solid job this season, and both teams will try to dominate the possession here, but I don’t think either team will have much more than the other one. Goals are the way to go in this one.
