Venezuela vs. Brazil 10/7/21 CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifications Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Venezuela and Brazil face off on Thursday night in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying game at Estadio Olímpico. When these two teams last faced off in Junie it was Brazil that won 3-0. 

Venezuela currently sits in last place in the CONMEBOL standings having picked up only four points in nine matches. They have lost four games in a row and during that stretch of games, they have only scored two goals total. In their last game on September 9th against Paraguay, they lost 2-1. Jhon Chancellor was the only goal scorer and that happened in the 90th minute. Venezuela actually had more shots and 53 percent of the possession, but it wasn’t enough as they were defeated. In the game earlier this season, the defense really struggled, and they need to find a way to slow down Brazil. 

On the other side of this matchup is Brazil who sits in first place in the standings having picked up 24 points..Brazil has won two games in a row and they haven’t given up a goal during those games. In the last game against Peru, the goal-scoring got started in the 14th minute, and Neymar added another goal in the 40th minute. Brazil had 59 percent of the possession and it was an easy winner. When most think of Brazil they think of the offense, but more impressive has been the defense as of late. This is a game where Brazil has to feel pretty confident about winning, so it wouldn’t be shocking if they sat some of their key players. 

Venezuela isn’t a good defensive team and that is something Brazil is going to take advantage of. Brazil should score at least two goals, and their defense isn’t going to give up any goals. Look for Brazil to win this game and cover the -1.5.
