Chile and Venezuela face off on Thursday in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying showdown at the San Carlos de Apoquindo Stadium.

Chile currently sits in 8th place in the standings having picked up 10 points in 11 games. Over the last three games, Chile has only one win, but that one win did come against Paraguay in their last game. Chile dominated the game but they didn’t score their first goal until the 68th minute when Ben Brereton put it in the back of the net. Mauricio Isla also added a goal in the 72nd minute. Charles Aranguiz did pick up a red card in the 74th minute, and won’t be available for this game. Chile had 12 shots and six shots on goal.

On the other side of this matchup is Venezuela who sits in 10th place in the standings having picked up seven points. Coming into this game, Venezuela has lost four of their last five games, but the one win did come in the last game against Ecuador. Venezuela fell behind in the 37th minute, but Dawin Machis tied it up right before the half. Eduardo Bello added another goal in the 64th minute to secure the win. They only had 42 percent of the possession, but the defense held on late to come away with the victory.

I expect both offenses are going to find success in this game, and that is going to lead to a higher-scoring game. Look for Chile and Venezuela to both scores a couple of goals, and the over will cash. I also believe Venezuela is too big of underdogs, and the +800 does offer some value. The play in this game though is the over.
