Colombia and Venezuela are playing at Estadio Olimpico Pedro Ludovico in round 2 of Group B in the Copa America 2021. Colombia has started this tournament with a hard win, and they are now undefeated in their last 3 games. Venezuela is still struggling, and they are now without a win in their last 3 games.

Thanks to their win in round 1 against Ecuador, Colombia is now in 2nd place of their group with 3 points, 1 scored goal, and 0 conceded goals. In that game against Ecuador, Colombia has had 41% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, 1 big chance created, and 78% of the correct passes. This was an ugly game with a lot of fouls, but Colombia was the better team, and they have won that match 1-0 with a goal scored in the 42nd minute. Cardona is the only goalscorer for Colombia so far in Copa America with 1 goal. Morelos is in quarantine because of the Coronavirus, while Moreno is injured. Colombia is a solid team, but they are missing James, a lot, and I just can’t understand why a team like Colombia would not take a player like James with them even though he is not completely ready. Colombia will be advancing to the next stage, but if they want to get farther, they will need to score more goals.

Venezuela is in bad form, and they now have only 1 win in their last 7 games, while they haven’t won any of their last 3 games. In their first game in this tournament, Venezuela was playing against Brazil, and they didn’t stand a chance. Venezuela has had 38% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 4 corner kicks, 0 big chances created, and 82% of the correct passes. Venezuela was defending well in the first half, but Brazil wasn’t focused on the attacking end. In the second half, Venezuela has conceded 2 goals, and they ended up losing this match 3-0. Fortunately for Venezuela, only 1 team is getting kicked out of this competition after the group stage, and with Peru in their group, Venezuela will most likely advance to the next stage, but that will be their maximum. Venezuela is one of the weakest teams in South America, and because their national league is not one of the strongest, it will be a while before some young and talented players come from Venezuela, and that is when they can start building their team once again.

The trends are mixed here, but I must side with Colombia here because they are in much better form, and their morale is high. Colombia is playing better and more competitive soccer, however, I don’t see a lot of goals being scored here.
