Chelsea and Liverpool face off on Sunday in an English Premier League showdown at Stamford Bridge. When these two teams last faced off in August the two teams played to a 1-1 draw.
Chelsea currently sits in second place in the standings having picked up 42 points. Chelsea can’t feel great heading into this game after how their last game ended. Against Brighton they gave up a goal in the 91st minute and that led to them only picking up a draw instead of a win. Chelsea has scored 43 goals total while their defense has given up 14 goals. Jorginho has also scored six goals and added one assist. In this game for Chelsea they need to play a complete game and not have the lapse like they had in the last game.
On the other side of this matchup is Liverpool who sits in 3rd place in the standings having picked up 41 points. Liverpool is another team that can’t feel good heading into this game. In the last game against Leicester City the offense couldn’t find the back of the net, and they gave up one goal. Liverpool has scored 50 goals while their defense has given up 16. Mohamed Salah has been the top player for Liverpool scoring 15 goals and nine assists. One major issue for Liverpool coming into this game is they will be without Jurgen Kloop who has tested positive for COVID.
This is the marquee game of the week and for good reason, it should be a fun game to watch. Even though both of these teams have strong offenses, I actually expect it’s going to be the defense for both of the teams that is the difference. I don’t see either team getting a ton of good scoring chances, and the under is going to cash.
