VfL Wolfsburg is hosting Hoffenheim at Volkswagen Arena in round 23 of the German Bundesliga. Wolfsburg seems to have woken up after selling their starting striker, I just hope they can keep it up. Hoffenheim has ended their losing streak with a nice win last weekend, but they also need to keep going now.

Wolfsburg is now on a 2-game winning streak where they scored 6 goals while conceding only 1 goal, and they have been impressive I must add. Thanks to these two wins, Wolfsburg has gotten some distance from the relegation zone, and they are now in 12th place with 27 points. Offensively, Wolfsburg is still not a great team with 23 scored goals in 22 games, and while their defense is not the worst in the league, it is somewhere up there. Nmecha is now the leading goalscorer for Wolfsburg with 6 goals, and while Weghorst also has 6 goals, he has left the team. Lukebakio, Philipp, and Baku have each added 2 assists. Otavio, William, and Van de Ven are all injured. As I’ve mentioned, Wolfsburg has woken up, but now they need to stay awake, and I’m not convinced they can.

After being on a 4-game losing streak, Hoffenheim looked like a team they were at the start of the season, but they have beaten Arminia last weekend, and hopefully, they will keep winning. With 34 points, 43 scored goals, and 34 conceded goals, Hoffenheim is now in 5th place. Bicakcic, Skov, and Richards are still injured for Hoffenheim, while Kramaric has recovered from Covid. Bebou is the leading goalscorer for Hoffenheim with 7 goals, while Rutter has added 6 goals. Kramaric has 7 assists. The next few games are on the easier side for Hoffenheim, but they are playing against Bayern in March, and that will be a tough one. Hoffenheim has proved they can win games, they can compete, and they can score goals, and because of that, I think they are good enough to get to the Champions League.

The trends are slightly on Wolfsburg’s side, but they haven’t lost to Hoffenheim in their last 9 games. Wolfsburg is in good form right now, but as I’ve mentioned, I’m not yet convinced their troubles are behind them. I’m taking goals here.
