Chelsea is hosting Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge in round 29 of the English Premier League. Chelsea is once again on a roll, but the situation around the club has been terrible, and I think it might affect the team. Newcastle is also in great form, they have been playing much better on both ends, but they do have a few injuries at the moment.
Chelsea is on a 3-game winning streak during which they have scored 10 goals while conceding only 3 goals, and they have even kept a clean sheet. As I’ve mentioned, the situation around the club is not great, but at the moment, players are focused on their job, but we will see how much longer that can be the case. Next week, Chelsea is playing in the Champions League against Lille, but they are coming into this second leg with a 2-0 advantage from the first leg. Mount is still the leading goalscorer for Chelsea with 8 goals, while Jorginho has added 6 goals. Chilwell is now the only injured player for Chelsea. I think Chelsea might give a break to some player here, but they still have enough depth to compete against Newcastle at home.
Newcastle is on a 3-game winning streak right now, and thanks to that, Newcastle is out of the danger zone, and I think they have secured their spot in the EPL for next season. the injuries Newcastle now have might have an impact on their game because Wilson, Lewis, Trippier, and Hayed are all injured, but Newcastle has done well without them so far. In their last 3 games, Newcastle has scored 6 goals, they have conceded 2 goals, and they have beaten some good teams during this streak. As far as Newcastle’s schedule goes, it’s not getting any easier, but with the form they are in right now, I think Newcastle can win some points over the next few weeks. Wilson is the leading goalscorer for Newcastle with 6 goals, while Saint-Maximin has added 5 goals. A lot of money has been invested in this team, and a lot more will in the summer, but for now, the players they have are enough to secure their EPL status.
Newcastle hasn’t won any of their last 3 games against Chelsea, but in their current form, I think Newcastle will be a threat here. I think Chelsea is focused on the Champions League right now, and that could leave them vulnerable.
