Aston Villa and Everton face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at Villa Park. When these two teams faced off on January 22nd it was Aston Villa that was able to secure the 1-0 victory.

Aston Villa has high expectations heading into the season but they didn’t look great in the first game of the season. Aston Villa’s first game of the season was against AFC Bournemouth and they collapsed early in the game giving up a goal in the second minute. They also gave up a goal in the 80th minute and that led to the 2-0 defeat. Aston Villa had 66 percent of the possession but they only had two shots on goal and that led to the defeat. Aston Villa looks to have a talented offense on paper, they just need to create more scoring chances in this game. If Aston Villa is going to have 66 percent of the possession, they need to have more than two shots on goal.

On the other side of this matchup is Everton who was almost relegated last season, and there are concerns that they might be heading that way again this season. Everton opened up the season against Chelsea and although they didn’t look awful, especially with the defense, it still wasn’t enough as they were defeated 1-0. The only goal they gave up was late in stoppage time in the first half. Everton finished with eight shots, and four shots on target, but they really didn’t have any great scoring chances. Everton only had 37 percent of the possession and they need to be better in this game. It’s expected that Mason Holgate will play in this game, and they need him to find success in this game.

When these two teams faced off on January 22nd the final score was 1-0, and I expect this game is going to be low scoring too. Everton struggled with good scoring chances in the first game, and Aston Villa also struggled in that department too. It wouldn’t shock me if this game ended in a 0-0 draw. I don’t see more than two goals being scored though, and the under is going to cash.
