Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace 8/15/22 EPL Soccer Picks, Predictions, Odds

Liverpool and Crystal Palace face off on Monday in an English Premier League showdown at Anfield. These two teams faced off in a club friendly on July 15th, and Liverpool secured the 2-0 victory. Liverpool has won 10 Premier League games in a row against Crystal Palace. 

Liverpool has dreams of Winning the Premier League this season, but the first game was a real knock on those chances. Liverpool faced off against Fulham in their first game of the season, a game they really should have won with ease, but instead, the defense really let them down, and they had to scramble just for a draw. In the first half, Liverpool gave up a goal, and they also gave up a penalty kick which resulted in a goal in the second half. Darwin Núñez scored for Liverpool in the 64th minute and Mohamed Salah added another goal in the 80th minute, to at least take a point. Thiago Alcântara is dealing with a hamstring injury, and he is expected to be out for at least a month. 

On the other side of this matchup is Crystal Palace who has high hopes for the season, but the schedule maker didn’t do them any favors with the start of the season. In the first game of the season against Arsenal, Crystal Palace didn’t play terribly, but they didn’t play well enough, and they were defeated 2-0. Crystal Palace 57 percent of the possession, but they only managed two shots on goal, and zero went into the back of the net. The last time they lost back-to-back games to start the season was 2017, and the hope is they can continue that here. The defense will need to be good, but they can’t be on the back foot the entire game. Crystal Palace needs to try to put the pressure on the defense of Liverpool. 

Liverpool’s defense showed some holes in Game 1, but I don’t think that will continue to be the case here. Crystal Palace struggled to score against Arsenal, and they are going to have some major issues here against Liverpool defense that is going to be much better here. Liverpool also isn’t going to score more than two goals, but they might only score one. I don’t feel comfortable playing Liverpool, but the under is going to cash. Back the under 2.5.
