Manchester United and Liverpool face off on Monday in an English Premier League showdown at Old Trafford. When these two teams faced off on July 12th it was Manchester United that secured the 4-0 victory. Both of these teams have not been happy with their play so far this season.

There were a ton of questions surrounding Manchester United coming into the season, after two games, there seem to be even more question marks. Manchester United has played two games so far this season, and the only goal scored was an own goal. In the first game, Manchester United lost to Brighton 2-1 and in the last game against Brentford, they were defeated 4-0. Manchester United had 64 percent of the possession in the last game, but they only had four shots on target and zero goals. In this game, Manchester United needs to find a way to get the offense going. Manchester United’s offense could look different in this game, and it sounds like Harry Maguire could be on the bench.

On the other side of this matchup is Liverpool, who still has dreams of winning the league, but there isn’t a lot of wiggle room left for this team. In the first game, Liverpool played to a 2-2 draw at the hands of Fulham, and in the last game against Crystal Palace, they played to a 1-1 draw. Darwin Núñez did pick up a red card in the last game and won’t be on the field in this game. Liverpool had 73 percent of the possession in the last game, but only four shots on goal and one goal. Roberto Firmino is available for this game and is expected to start in the place of Nunez. Joe Gomez is also expected to be moved into the starting lineup.

Manchester United’s offense is awful, and it’s not going to magically get better in this game. I expect Liverpool to dominate the possession in this game, Liverpool has scored at least a goal in the first two games, and they are going to find success scoring again here. Look for Liverpool to score at least one goal and that will be enough to secure the victory.
