Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at Anfield. The last time these two teams faced off in March 2020 it was Liverpool that secured the 2-1 victory.
Bournemouth comes into this game sitting in 15th place in the standings, having picked up three points so far this season. Bournemouth started the season strong, scoring two goals against Aston Villa, and they were able to pick up two points. Since that game, though, Bournemouth has really struggled. Two games ago they lost to Manchester City 4-0 and in the last game against Arsenal they lost 3-0. Against Arsenal, they only managed one shot on goal, and in this game, they are going to need to put more pressure on the Liverpool defense. Bournemouth did play a midweek game in the EFL Cup, and they were able to knock off Norwich City in penalties. Bournemouth are expected to get Jamal Lowe back in this back after missing the last game because of illness.
On the other side of this matchup is Liverpool, who sit in 16th place in the standings having picked up two points. With Manchester United picking up a win in their last game, Liverpool is now the most disappointing team in the league so far. So far this season, Liverpool has played to draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace, and lost in the last game against Manchester United. Mohamed Salah did pick up a goal in the 81st minute, but it wasn’t enough as they were already down 2-0. One of the big issues for this Liverpool team is they are dealing with a ton of injuries. Thiago Alcântara, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, and Curtis Jones are all expected to miss the game because of injury. Fabinho is also expected to move into the starting lineup.
Liverpool’s squad has looked awful, but that is all going to change in this game. Bournemouth has failed to create any pressure with their offense the last two games, and it’s not going to change in this Liverpool game. Look for Liverpool to score at least four goals here, and they will cash the -2.5.
