AFC Bournemouth and Southampton face off on Wednesday in an English Premier League showdown at Vitality Stadium. When these two teams faced off in March 2021 it was Southampton that secured the 3-0 victory.

AFC Bournemouth comes into this game sitting in 10th place in the standings, having picked up 13 points so far this year. Bournemouth last faced off against Fulham on Saturday, and the game ended in a 2-2 draw. The two goals for Bournemout were scored in the second and 29th minute. They finished with six shots on goal, but only had 31 percent of the possession. David Brooks and Lloyd Kelly are both still dealing with injuries and won’t be able to go in this game. Jack Stephens is also ineligible to face his parent club, so he won’t be in contention to play here. Ben Pearson is working his way back from a knee injury and could play here.

On the other side of this matchup is Southampton, who sit in 18th place in the standings having picked up eight points. Southampton last placed against West Ham on Sunday and that game ended in a 1-1 draw. Romain Perraud scored in the 20th minute to take the 1-0 lead, but the defense did give up a goal in the 64th minute. Southampton had eight shots on goal, but they only had 39 percent of the possession. Bella-Kotchap is dealing with a separated shoulder and will be out the next couple of months. Theo Wallcatt should be back soon, but he’s expected to miss this game.

On the road, Southampton’s defense has really struggled, and it’s going to let them down again here. AFC Bournemouth isn’t known as an elite offensive team, but it should only take a goal or two to get the job done here. Bournemouth’s defense is also going to be strong, and they will secure the victory.
