Atletico Madrid vs. Manchester United 2/23/22 UEFA Champions League Soccer Pick, Predictions, and Odds

Atletico Madrid is welcoming Manchester United to Estadio Wanda Metropolitano in the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. By some miracle, Atletico has kept a clean sheet this past weekend, but I just don’t see it happening here as well. United was able to string a couple of wins together, but they are still not out of the woods.

Atletico is struggling, still, and even though they have beaten Osasuna 0-3 on the road this past weekend, they did not play well. Thanks to this win, Atletico has stayed on Barcelona’s tail in LaLiga, and they are now in 5^th place with 42 points. In the Champions League group stage, Atletico has ended in 2^nd place behind Liverpool, but only thanks to Milan dropping points. Griezmann is the leading goalscorer for Atletico in the Champions League with 4 goals each. Griezmann, wass, Lemar, Cunha, and Lecomte are all injured. Atletico is doing well offensively, but on the defensive end, they don’t exist this season, and that will cost them in LaLiga, while in the Champions League, everything is possible, but it’s unlikely they can get past the quarterfinals.

As I’ve mentioned, United was able to string a couple of wins together, and they are also undefeated in their last 4 games. Thanks to their last 2 wins, United has remained in the top 4 in the EPL. In the group stage, the offense was working great for United, and they have scored 11 goals, but defensively, they made a few mistakes, they weren’t good, and they have conceded 8 goals in 6 games. Even with a bad defense as theirs was, United was able to win their group. Cavani is now the only injured player for United. As far as the goalscoring goals, Ronaldo is leading United in the Champions League with 6 goals, but someone else will need to step up here because he is not playing in good form right now. The good news for United is their next EPL game is on the easier side, but the 6 games after that one will be incredibly hard We know United has great players, a lot of talent and quality, but they are having a hard time finding their way to the net, and they will definitely need it here.

These two teams have never met in the past, but it’s hard to imagine either of them can keep a clean sheet with the defenses they have. I see goals on both sides in this one, and I will take it.
