Canada and Morocco face off on Thursday in a World Cup Group F soccer showdown at Al Thumama Stadium.
Morocco currently sits in second place in the group, having picked up four points. In the first game, Morocco and Croatia played to a 0-0 draw. In the last game against Belgium, the offense was good, scoring two goals and that led to the victory. Morocco scored two goals after the 73rd minute. They only had 33 percent of the possession and four shots on target, but they scored two goals and that was enough for the victory. Yassine Bounou got sick before the start of the last game and ended up moving to the bench. It’s unclear at this point if he will move back to the starting lineup here.
On the other side of this matchup is Canada, who sits in 4th place in the group, having picked up zero points. Some knew that there might be some struggles for Canada in this tournament, but most believed they would have at least one point here. Canada opened up the tournament with a loss against Belgium 1-0, and in the last game against Croatia, they were defeated 4-1. In the last game, it was Alphonso Davies that opened up the scoring in the second minute. The defense broke down though as the game went on, and they ended up losing 4-1. Junior Hoilett was benched for the last game, but he could move back into the starting lineup here.
Canada wants to make a good impression in their last game, and I expect they are going to push the numbers forward here with the offense. Morocco scored two goals in the last game, and I expect they are going to find offensive success here. Look for a 2-1 or 2-2 type of game and the over is going to cash here.
