Chelsea vs. Leicester City 8/27/22 EPL Soccer Picks, Predictions, Odds

Chelsea and Leicester City face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at Stamford Bridge. When these two teams faced off in May 2022 the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. 

Chelsea comes into this game sitting in 12th place in the standings, having picked up four points so far this season. Chelsea hasn’t played awful so far this season, but they did look awful in the last game against Leeds United. The defense really struggled, giving up three goals to Leeds, and that led to the defeat. Kalidou Koulibaly did pick up a red card and won’t be able to play here. Marc Cucurella is expected to make a start here, and Ben Chilwell is also expected to play against his former team. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also expected to move into the starting lineup here. Chelsea has picked up a win against Everton, and they played to a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur. 

On the other side of this matchup is Leicester City, who sits in 19th place having picked up only one point. Leicester City really could have six points right now, but their defense has broken down late in games, and it has cost them. In the first game against Brentford, they took a 2-0 lead, but two goals given up after the 62nd minute was the difference as they only picked up a point. In the last game against Southampton, they jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but they gave up two goals after the 68th minute and that led to the defeat. Leicester City played a midweek game against Stockport in the EFL Cup, and they were able to win that game on penalty kicks. Even though they advanced, they really didn’t look good in that game. 

Chelsea is missing Kalidou Koulibaly and that is a big issue for their defense. Leicester City has found success scoring this season, and I expect that will continue there. Leicester has also given up at least two goals in each of the three games, and their struggles on defense will continue here. This is going to be a high-scoring affair and the over will cash.
