Chelsea and Real Madrid are clashing at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of the quarterfinals in the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea is a good team, defensively, solid, but they got destroyed by Brentford this past weekend, and we will see how that will impact them in this game. Real Madrid has won their game in LaLiga this past weekend, they are still at the top of the table, and they are playing well.

Chelsea hasn’t been at their best in the Champions League this season, but that doesn’t mean they are a bad team. In the first round of the knockouts, Chelsea has beaten Lille, and they have qualified for the quarterfinals. Timo Werner is the leading goalscorer for Chelsea in the Champions League with 3 goals, which is a clear sign Chelsea is lacking offense in the Champions League this season. Pulisic and Lukaku have added 2 goals each. Defensively, Chelsea is still one of the best teams in England, their midfield is great, but it isn’t much you can do without the offense. Yes, Chelsea has Lukaku, but they also have Havertz and Mount who are in much better form right now, and I think they get the advantage over Lukaku in this game.

Real Madrid is leading LaLiga, and they have Benzema who is playing in fantastic form this season. with 8 scored goals in 7 games, Benzema is the leading goalscorer for Real Madrid, while Vinicius has added 4 assists. In their last 7 games, Real Madrid has 6 wins and a loss, and that loss was against Barcelona just before the international break. In their last game, Real Madrid has beaten Celta Vigo, but they have had 3 penalties in that game, while they have scored 2. In the previous round of the Champions League, Real Madrid has lost the first leg to PSG, but they have won the second leg 3-1, and they have deservedly qualified for this round. I think that the offense Real Madrid has is excellent, as long as Benzema is playing, but their defense tends to be a bit shaky, and it’s not as good as it was at the start of the season. If they stay healthy, Real Madrid could get even further in the Champions League, but they will need Benzema to keep playing this well.

Chelsea has played against Real Madrid only once at home, and they have won that game 2-0, and that was also in the Champions League last season. Real Madrid is scoring a lot of goals, and with Chelsea being a bit sloppy defensively, I think they will score here as well, which is why I will take the goals in this one.
