Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur face off on Sunday in an English Premier League showdown at Stamford Bridge. This is a key game for two teams who hope to compete for the Premier League title. When these two teams faced off on January 23rd it was Chelsea that secured the 2-0 victory.
Chelsea believes they have the team to win the title, and this game is a great test for them to use as a measuring stick. Chelsea’s first game of the season came against Everton, and the defense looked good, but the offense could use some improvement. It was Jorginho that scored from the penalty spot in stoppage time in the first half. Chelsea had six shots on goal and 63 percent of the possession but only managed that one goal from the penalty spot. Marc Cucurella is expected to play in this game, and he should be a key for Chelsea this season.
On the other side of this matchup is Tottenham Hotspur who also believes they can win the title this season. In the first game of the season against Southampton, they actually fell behind in the 12th minute. That seemed to be the wake-up call that Tottenham needed, and the offense started to pour it on. Ryan Sessegnon opened up the scoring in the 21st minute and Eric Dier and Dejan Kulusevski added goals. There was also an own goal that led to the 4-1 victory, and three points. Son Heung-min and Harry Kane are the top goal scorers for this team, and it made the first game even more impressive that they were able to put up four goals with neither of those two players scoring.
Chelsea’s defense was strong in the first game, but I expect this to be a much more open game. Tottenham likes to attack and even on the road, they are going to push players forward. That is going to lead to their defense having holes, and Chelsea will add at least a couple of goals. Look for a 3-1 or 2-2 type of game, and the over 3.5 goals to cash.
