England and the United States face off on Friday in a Group B World Cup Soccer showdown at Al Bayt Stadium.

England currently sits in 1st place in the group having picked up three points. England opened up the World Cup against Iran, and it was quite an impressive, winning 6-2. Bukayo Saka scored two goals. The defense did give up two goals and that is something that has to be a bit of a concern heading into this game. There was some concern about Harry Kane had to get a scan on his ankle, but the scan came back clean, and it’s expected that he’s going to be able to start in this game. Harry McGuire is also back from illness and should play a key role in this game. In this game, I would expect England to continue to push numbers forward and really try to put the pressure on the United States pack line.

On the other side of this matchup is the United States who sit in 3rd place in the group having picked up one point. The United States opened up the World Cup against Wales, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Timothy Weah opened up the scoring in the 36th minute, and the United States really dominated the first half with the possession. In the second half though, Wales pressure was too much and a terrible penalty given up led to the draw. Weston McKennie and Yunus Musah were both banged up in the first game, but they are both expected to get the start again here.

This is going to be a very long game for the United States. The United States isn’t exactly known for their back line, and they are going to really struggle to defend here. Look for England to start the scoring early, and the Americans will have no answer. Look for a 3-0 or 4-0 type of finish. Back England -1.5.
