Jamaica and Mexico face off on Thursday in a CONCACAF World Cup qualifier at National Stadium Independence Park. When these two teams faced off in September of 2021 it was Mexico that came away with the 2-1.

Mexico currently sits in 3rd place in the standings having picked up 14 points. Mexico might win this group still, but they have had some very disappointing games. The last game for Mexico was a friendly against Chile, and the game ended in a 2-2 draw. It was a goal in the 86th minute given up that led to a draw. Mexico has had 13 shots and 55 percent of the possession, but the defense was an issue. The last game in the qualifiers was against Canada and that game was a 2-1 defeat. Mexico was down 2-0 and the game looked a little closer because Hector Herrera scored a goal in the 90th minute. In this game if Mexico wants to come away with the victory they are going to need the defense to be good.

On the other side of this matchup is Jamaica who sits in 6th place in the standings having picked up seven points. If Jamaica wants to have a chance to qualify for the World Cup, they are going to need to pick up three points. In the last game against Peru, the defense really struggled giving up three goals and that led to the defeat. Each of the last two games for Jamaica in the qualifiers ended in a 1-1 draw. Against the United States there were only two shots on goal, but one did score, and they are going to need the offense to be good in this game. A draw isn’t going to be good enough in this game so I wouldn’t be shocked if Jamaica takes more chances.

I don’t see a whole lot of defense being played by either squad, and I expect this game to go well over the total. Look for a 3-2 or 4-1 type of game with Mexico coming out on top. Back the over to cash and Mexico to win. I would bet them as individual bets, but throwing a few dollars on a parlay also makes a lot of sense.
