Leicester City vs. Southampton 8/20/22 EPL Soccer Picks, Predictions, Odds

Leicester City and Southampton face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at King Power Stadium. On May 22nd it was Leicester City that secured the 4-1 victory. 

There were a ton of questions surrounding Leicester City heading into the season, and after two games, not many of those have been answered. In the first game of the season against Brentford, Leicester City played well for the first 60 minutes and were leading 2-0. After the 60th minute, Leicester City’s defense was awful, and that led to the draw. In the last game against Arsenal, the defense was again an issue giving up four goals and that led to the defeat. Leicester City did score two goals, but the defense just wasn’t good enough. Defender Wesley Fofana has been connected to Chelsea in the last few days, and there is a chance he won’t be with the team anymore when this game starts. 

On the other side of this matchup is Southampton who have also picked up only one point so far this season. In the first game against Tottenham, Southampton scored the first goal, but the defense then stopped having success and they were defeated 4-1. In the last game against Leeds United, Southampton fell behind 2-0, but they scored two goals after the 72nd minute, and that led to the defeat. Southampton only had 42 percent of the possession and were outshot 5-4, but it still led to the defeat. Southampton hasn’t won their last five games against Leicester City and if they fall behind early in this game, that is something the team can’t think about. 

This has the chance to be the highest-scoring game of the weekend. Leicester City has proven their offense has good, but they have given up six goals this season and I expect the defense will continue to be an issue. Southampton also has a defense that has some holes, and this game is going to be high scoring. Back the over 3.5 goals to cash.
