Lille OSC and AS Monaco are clashing at Stade Pierre Mauroy in round 36 of the French Ligue 1. After winning the title last season, Lille has done nothing this season, and it has been one massive disappointment for them. Monaco is on fire right now, they are on a 7-game winning streak, and they are on the verge of the Champions League spot.

Lille has won only 1 of their last 6 games, and they are now far away from any of the European spots. Lille is in 10th place with 51 points, they have scored only 42 goals while conceding 43 goals in 35 games. Yilmaz and Sanches are suspended for this game, but even with them, Lille hasn’t been doing so well. David is the leading goalscorer for Lille with 13 goals, while Sanches has added 5 assists. In their last 3 games of the season, Lille is playing 3 hard games, and honestly, I’m not sure they can win any points, but even if they did, it wouldn’t mean anything to their position on the table. Lille has a good team, but they weren’t able to do anything with it this season.

As I’ve mentioned, Monaco is now on a 7-game winning streak, and during this streak, Monaco has scored 17 goals. Defensively, Monaco has also been pretty solid during this streak, and they have conceded 5 goals, and they kept 3 clean sheets. The good news for Monaco is their schedule is not bad until the end of the season, and I really like their chances to get to the Champions League spot. Monaco is now in 4th place with 62 points, which is the same as Rennais in 3rd, and only 3 points less than struggling Marseille has in 2nd place. Monaco’s defense has been pretty good lately, and that might get them to that Champions League spot. With 21 scored goals so far this season, Ben Yedder is the leading goalscorer for Monaco, while Henrique has added 7 assists. Martins is suspended for this game because of the yellow cards. Monaco is a great team, and it seems the coaching change they made in the middle of the season has worked.

The trends are on Monaco’s side in this matchup, and with the way Lille has been playing, I think Monaco might get another win here. Lille has the talent and the quality to score, and with them being the home team, they just might.
