Liverpool vs. Ajax 9/13/22 UEFA Champions League Soccer Pick, Predictions, Odds

Liverpool and Ajax face off on Tuesday in a Group A Champions League soccer showdown at Anfield. 

Ajax currently sits in 1st place in Group A having picked up three points. Ajax faced off against the Rangers in the first game of the Champions League, and they looked pretty good. Ajax started the scoring in the 17th minute and never looked back as they were able to secure the 4-0 victory. Ajax had 76 percent of the possession and one shot on goal, on the way to the victory. On Saturday, Ajax faced off against Heerenveen, and they were able to secure a 5-0 victory. They had 72 percent of the possession in that game also. In this game, it’s going to be important that they are the team with more than 50 percent of the possession. Owen Wijndal is still dealing with an ankle injury, and it doesn’t look like he’s good enough to come back yet. 

On the other side of this matchup is Liverpool who sits in 3rd place not having picked up a point yet. In the first Champions League game of the season. Liverpool looked awful. Liverpool gave up the first goal of the game in the 5th minute, and they were able to recover as they were defeated by Napoli 4-1. Liverpool had 62 percent of the possession and seven shots on goal., but it wasn’t enough. Liverpool’s biggest issue is they are banged up, and they are going to be without Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Curtis Jones in this game. Fabio Carvalho is working his way from a dead leg, but it’s expected that he could be good to go in this game, although it’s unclear if he is going to be included in the lineup. There is also a chance that Mohamed Salah could be sent to the bench for this game. 

This Liverpool team doesn’t have a lot of confidence heading into this game, and I expect they are going to struggle in this game against Ajax. Look for Ajax to score two or three goals and that is going to be the difference here as the visiting team is going to come on the road and get the job done. Back Ajax on the money line.
