Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund face off on Wednesday in a UEFA Champions League game at Etihad Stadium.
Dortmund currently sits in 1st place in the standings having picked up three points. In the first game of the Champions League, Dortmund faced off against Copenhagen, and they scored three goals on the way to the victory. In the last game against RB Leipzig, though, the offense couldn’t get on the board, and they were defeated 3-0. Dortmund had 56 percent of the possession, but they didn’t put any shots on goal, and that led to the defeat. Thorgan Hazard is dealing with a thigh injury, and he had to leave the last game early. It’s unclear here if he is going to be healthy enough to play. Gregor Kobel, Sebastien Haller, and Mahmoud Dahoud are all going to miss this game because of an injury.
Manchester City currently sits in first place in Group G having picked up three points in the Champions League. Manchester City faced off against Sevilla in the first game of the Champions League, and they were able to come away with the 4-0 victory. Erling Haaland scored two goals and that was enough to pace Manchester City to the victory. Manchester City had 62 percent of the possession and had 10 shots on target. Kyle Walker missed the last game because of injury, and it’s going to be the case again in this one that he won’t be able to go. Aymeric Laporte is also expected to miss this game because of injury. In this game, Manchester City needs to be the team that scores the first goal.
Dortmund is starting their backup goalkeeper, and that is terrible news against an offense as good as Manchester City. Look for Manchester City to score three or four goals here, and that is going to be the difference here. I don’t see Dortmund even getting on the board, and this will be an easy victory. Back Manchester City -2.5 to cash.
